Sleep on it

Posted January 29, 2008

"Sleep on It" is a new show from HGTV that promotes the idea that home buyers can only get to know a home by living in it.

The show debuted earlier this month and begs the question - will homeowners and Realtors implement this idea in the real world?

Is a slumber party necessary to get the feel of a home? I doubt it. I don't think much more than the comfort level of the mattress or how quiet the neighborhood is can be gained from an extended stay.

I think hosting a party, a real estate marketing technique that's been in use for a long time, is a better alternative.

One great opportunity would be to take advantage of the upcoming Super Bowl Game by hosting a Super Bowl Party. This will demonstrate not only how comfortable your home is but also how great it is for entertaining.

If you’ve been reading my articles and keeping your home clutter free and clean; all you need to do is buy some food, set the mood and get those invitations sent out.
