Just hit town and the fish are still bitting, A little.

Glad to be back home. Been up to the North getting in the last bit of Duck hunting for the year. Now back down and back to business. Fished the last couple days to get my feet wet again, and to my surprise fishing is the same as when I left in the first week of January. Still a few Reds prowling around on the flats with a couple of small Snook mixed in. Caught a nice Red on Fly today. 29 inches with my Client Lee. Also boated a couple of small Snook and had a number of Reds do the fly sniff test to see if they wanted to eat it. Unfortunately not. Oh Well we did get one nice fish. Checked the flats for Trout and found some around Marco and Johnson Bay. Also a few Pompano around Little Marco and Hurricane Pass. I haven't gone out but my neighbor has been catching a few Trippletail as of late on the markers south of Marco. All in all not terrible for January. My least favorite month to fish here.
I think we will see some heated up action over the next couple of days with water temps again on the rise. I would expect the lights in both Marco and Naples to be getting good again with the higher water temps. I will be checking into that next week.
Bass fishing still very slow on the trail. Lots of pressure and few fish being caught. It should be starting to get better sometime in the next couple of weeks though.
The CCA redfish tourney this Sunday out of Goodland. Come out and try to win some money and have a good time doing it. My partner Ritch and I will be there to give it a shot.
