</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jul/03/letter-editor-go-vegan/</link><description>Congratulations to Jeff Popick for losing about 150 pounds by switching to a vegan diet (“Marco man believes vegan philosophy helped him shed weight,” 6/26).

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jul/03/letter-editor-church-god/</link><description>I have just learned a history lesson filled with disappointment, shame and regret. In 1981, the Deltona Corp. donated property to the Church of God with the understanding that it would be used for church or cemetery purposes.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/26/letter-editor-another-outrage/</link><description>Our council is in the process of replacing our city attorney with ex-councilman, attorney Tucker. Yes the same councilman that falsely claimed he had photographic evidence of citizens planting asbestos; proclaimed he deleted e-mails from some citizens without even reading them (an act for which Councilman Kiester was singled out and successfully prosecuted); the councilman that has insulted, intimidated, ridiculed, our citizens and ruled Marco Island since its inception. Is this the man to help heal the island?

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/24/letter-editor-misunderstandings/</link><description>I am writing this letter to clear up the numerous misstatements in regards to the city’s plans to further study the undergrounding of electricity on Marco Island.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/24/letter-editor-rush-judgement/</link><description>The recent effort by City Council to study a takeover of the LCEC service has created a panic along with a number of new “experts” and naysayers without any justification or foresight. There are those asking questions like who will run it and why fix something that isn’t broke?

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/24/letter-editor-attacked/</link><description>To Mr. Monte Lazarus, Marco Island Planning Board member: Sir, your recent letter to the editor attacked me personally for having exercised my American right to criticize city councilor Wayne Waldack’s performance on the Jolley Bridge issue.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/17/letter-editor-lcec-presentation/</link><description>My wife and I attended the LCEC presentation on June 12 and found it to be very informative. We learned that LCEC does not want to sell the electrical distribution system and will vigorously defend against condemnation and a forced sale to the city.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/17/letter-editor-peace-reigns/</link><description>It is said that each village has its own idiot. Marco Island is twice blessed, for we seem to have two: Mr. Hector Colombo and Mr. Sayre Uhler.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/10/letter-editor-i-dont-get-it/</link><description>Perhaps I just do not get it. Our island with a permanent population of under 15,000 has outgrown a fairly new (by bridge and tunnel standards) bridge and now needs a total replacement which is to be funded by tolls.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/10/letter-editor-open-letter-our-city-council/</link><description>It is with great dismay that we find our city staff is urging you to take action towards taking over the electric service on our island. A “study” is only the first step on the path to begin yet another huge project which taxpayers do not want.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/10/letter-editor-bridge-financing/</link><description>I can’t think of any possible scenario by which I could agree that the best way to finance a new or enlarged bridge to Marco might be through tolls. I don’t even understand why we are paying large sums of money to study something which common sense dictates is a no brainier.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/10/letter-editor-strong-words/</link><description>Yesterday I read an article wherein Councilor Ted Forcht was quoted as saying “With Collier County, [the City of Marco Island] makes up a big part of their budget and we’re treated like morons down here.” I had serious doubts about Ted’s rather strong language. However, rookie councilor Waldack’s letter to the editor has immediately removed all doubt and even provided the rationale for Marco’s being considered moronic.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/10/letter-editor-evil-two-lessors/</link><description>Since March, our new City Council has proved that Marco Island voters on January 26 chose, again, the most “evil of two lessors.” That sorrowful civic assertion is based on recent City Hall proceedings as well as media sphere accounts, Internet blogs, personal text messaging and official city hall press releases.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/10/letter-editor-fly-flag-proudly/</link><description>As my wife and I walk daily around this beautiful island we have called our permanent retirement home since January 1, 2004 – and more recently enjoy bicycling daily as much as 15 miles – I have noted sadly the absence of United States flags in some public places, and numerous business locations.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/05/letter-editor-bridge-questions/</link><description>A few citizens are writing the City Council suggesting we just say “no” to a toll. Saying no is the easy way to quell the masses temporarily. Is that the right thing to do? I do not want to pay tolls. I would need a real good reason to pay.

</title><link>http://marconews.com/news/2008/jun/05/letter-editor-pick-after-your-dogs/</link><description>People love dogs but dogs carry around worms, tapeworms and hookworms that can infect humans, especially children. Fifty two percent of dogs in the southeastern states harbor parasitic worms that cause human disease and dogs spread these worms through their feces.
