More rain, heat in forecast today

Thunderstorms are likely for Southwest Florida today.

There will be a 60 percent chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms after 8 a.m., the National Weather Service reports.

Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 90 degrees under mostly cloudy skies but the heat index will make it feel more like 101. The relative humidity will be at 73 percent with winds out of the east between 10 and 13 mph. Temperatures should drop to 75 tonight under partly cloudy skies.

There will be a 40 percent chance for afternoon rain on Monday, the weather service said.

On Monday, temperatures are expected to reach 91 degrees with a heat index of 101. The temperature low will be 75.
