The weather might not cooperate with holiday celebrations tonight around Southwest Florida.

A 50 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms is possible this afternoon with a high temperature of 90 degrees, the National Weather Service reports. The heat index could reach as high as 100 degrees with winds out of the northeast between 7 and 9 mph.

At 7:30 a.m., the temperature was 74 degrees with a relative humidity of 97 percent.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms are also possible tonight with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures should drop to around 74 degrees.

National Weather Service records indicate Naples Municipal Airport picked up 1.39 inches of rain Monday afternoon in a three-hour span. That brings the monthly total for the first three days of July to 2.33 inches.

The average July brings just less than 8 inches of rain to Naples, weather service records indicate.
