North Collier Boulevard continues to inch toward completion, with the latest development on Friday in the form of a traffic switch from the road’s southbound lanes to the northbound side.
Paving of the road from Winn-Dixie to East Elkcam Circle was wrapped up last week, with the switch taking place just after 2 p.m. Friday.
It marked the reopening of previously closed roads and driveways on the eastern side of the road, including East Elkcam Circle. That intersection is now open as a four-way stop.
All other intersections operating with the use of stop signs will remain largely as they were before, with driveways and the majority of businesses on the western side retaining direct access to North Collier Boulevard.
Though the northbound lanes were previously projected for completion by the end of September, city staff say the project is still on target to be finished by Dec. 23.
