Tooth Talk: Take a look at what’s new in dentistry

A visit to the dentist today is not what it used to be in the past. There have been many new modern innovations made in recent years that make dental treatment easier, quicker and more comfortable for everyone.

A visit to the dentist usually involves having x-rays taken. No one likes those uncomfortable sharp pieces of plastic that make you gag and cut up your mouth. Not to mention the radiation and the chemicals that can harm the environment.

With digital x-rays the radiation is reduced by about 90 percent and the sensor is rounded and smooth. The images appear right away on a computer screen so there are no chemicals or waste.

Lasers have become one of the newest and latest additions to the dental office. There are many different types of lasers that can be used for many different purposes.

One type of laser can find cavities that are otherwise undetectable by x-ray, sight or instrument. This allows for more conservative treatment than ever before possible.

Another type of laser can be used to treat gum disease which makes treatment much easier, with less healing time, than with traditional surgery.

These new technologies give us the ability to make your visits much more pleasant and comfortable than ever before.
