The residents of Marco Island owe a special thank you to Mr. John Nevelus who alerted homeowners about a FEMA Flood Plain reclassification rebate up to 20 percent. I took his advice submitted the proper paperwork and within two weeks received a rebate check.
One of the two documents required is a copy of the letter from FEMA to Bill Moss, our former city manager, advising him and the city that a 20 percent plus rebate is available from the insurance companies for the revised flood plain reclassification.
I am curious why Mr. Moss didn’t alert the Marco residents about the homeowner’s rebate. Did he alert the City Council? A simple notice in the papers would have been welcome. Oh, well! Best of luck Naples residents.

Could anyone tell me how to get a copy of this letter? What other document do I need in order to apply for this flood rebate?
Any help would be very appreciated!

• Go to City Hall
• Ask for Mr. Bob Devlin.
• He has the big flood map in his office. He’ll check your address against the map. If you’re in an area in which the flood zone was changed, he’ll give you all the paper work you’ll need to apply for the rebate from your insurance company.
