The Marco Island Charter Middle School gets back into sports action in a big way this week.
The golf team travels to Eagle Creek Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. match, while the baseball team goes to Community School of Naples for a 6 p.m. contest.
The tennis team, 6-0, looks to stay undefeated when it plays Collier Parks/East Naples at 5 p.m. at East Naples Community Park on Friday.
On Saturday the Charter track team competes at Manatee Middle School.
It’s homecoming for the baseball team on Friday at the baseball field behind Tommie Barfield Elementary.
The junior varsity opens at 4 p.m. against First Baptist Academy, with the varsity following around 6 p.m.
The varsity looks to improve its 1-2 mark, while the JV team, 3-0, looks to stay undefeated. The First Baptist teams are both 0-3.
“We got on track with our win before the Easter break,” manager Alex Galiana said. “Community School is undefeated and will be a tough test for us. Luke Bergen and Kit Fowler will probably share pitching.”
For homecoming Patrick Doyle is penciled in to start on the mound.
The day will begin with the National Anthem. The seniors on varsity will be introduced. They include Marc Milk, Matt Gerhardstein, Hayden Hanscom, Alex Jerrett, Joe Marinaro, Doyle, Bergen and Fowler.
A concession stand will serve up hot dogs, pizza, chips and drinks.
On Saturday the track meet begins at 9 a.m. While the team has not been able to win, due smaller numbers, it has several competitors who do well. Katie Hogan, Mary Ellen Morris, Sara Reisinger, Cassie Malouta, Cassidy Penzo, Katie Sanford, Zach Halischak and Christian Van Boven continue to perform well against strong competition.
