Marco art aficionados are in for a treat this off season. The Marco Island Orion Bank is hosting its first ever Artist Appreciation Series.
The series will run once a month with each event spotlighting one local artist at the Orion Bank rotunda.
The featured artist’s work will be on display for a select number of guests to view and discuss. Depending on the artist’s wishes, the event will have either a formal or informal discussion on the subject of art and the artist’s career.
Before the discussion, attendees get to enjoy hors d’oeuvres catered by Paradise Seafood Market.
The first event of the six-part series was held April 10 and featured painter Stephen Muldoon.
Dozens of Muldoon’s painting were displayed in the Orion Bank rotunda. The artist met a packed crowd, there to enjoy the art and atmosphere.
Keith Dameron, the vice president and manager of the Marco Island Orion Bank, envisioned and organized this series as a way to spotlight local talent. Dameron also said he hopes to bring both the casual art appreciators and the enthusiasts with refined taste together to discuss quality in art.
Dameron said Marco has many talented artist, and he thinks this series will help prove that.
“I want to highlight and emphasize the quality of artists on Marco Island,” said Dameron.
The second event in the series, which will be held May 14, will feature another painter, Malenda Trick.
The series is free to the public, but space is limited. To reserve a spot at one of the Artist Appreciation Series events call (239) 403-5169.
