In light of your article concerning POP and CARES going dormant, I have only a few comments.
First, any comments from Mr. Arcerri would only be negative since the man was a consenting council member when asbestos was being crushed on South Collier and across from Winn Dixie. Although, Mr. Moss is gone, we must remember that there are a few people here who condoned these things.
Spending our tax dollars for cleaning up Veterans Park rather than going after the contractors who created the problem was wrong. Protecting contractors continues to bother me since Mr. Joel is always concerned about protecting them. In my opinion, political action groups try to protect rather than cause controversy. Most of us are concerned about our environment and try to do the right thing concerning the land and water that sustain us all.
All of us came here to enjoy this beautiful Island so isn’t it important to protect it? It is time to mend fences and come together for the good of the Island.
We now have a council that wants to work with the people and for this I am truly grateful. It is so important to open the lines of communication and I am hopeful that when controversy happens, special meetings can be called to iron out our differences. I am also grateful that we now have Comcast TV 12 to view council meetings from home for people with health problems or who cannot attend council meetings.

Funny how many good things have happened since we got rid of the last council and former City Manager. I have really seen no critical comments about anything this Council has voted on. Sounds like we finally have a group of citizens representing us that really care. Change does make a difference. The new Charter Review Committee should look closely at term limits.

Mrs. Enman and Fossil: The good things and pleasant environment we are now experiencing are due to the election results and the dissolution of the groups in question. Not the one month we have had a new Council. The atmosphere is a result of a small vocal minority seeing for themselves that a landslide majority did not agree with them. That is the beauty of a Democracy.
It is just amazing that Mrs. Enman cannot let go of her (and CARES) fantasy about issues that just are were not true as she sees them. It is sad that she cannot just move on and continues to lament issues that were created by CARES and not by the City.
Hopefully, she and many others can somehow normalize and get back to living a wonderful life on Paradise.

Hey lauralbi1, did the election not result in change? Do you give the new Council no credit? Is it all about you? You need to start thinking rationally.

It had to result in a change. There was only one guy running for re-election.

Beowulf: The new Council is great !! The main message that was sent by the election results was to clarify who "The people" really are. For too long we all had to listen to, what turned out to be, a VERY small vocal minority stating that they spoke for "the people". This last election clarified that position. It was a landslide victory, demonstrating just how small this minority really is/wsas. That is why CARES and POP have dissolved. I assure you if the results were different/closer, these groups would still be in existence. The real shame for all of us is that it cost us over $500,000 in lawsuits to satisfy a few egos. But, as I said to Mrs. Enman, life moves on, we live in Paradise, so we forgive and forget and enjoy.
