Another week goes by, too fast, too quick. The Marco Island Family of YMCA members are getting smaller every day as folks head back home until next fall. Now it’s time to prepare for Summer Camp and all the activities that will be scheduled in conjunction with the camp.

Summer camp means Summer Fun here at the YMCA and along with the camp are the Specialty camps.

Gina Sisbarro- Blassneck has been putting together an exciting schedule of camps which I am thrilled to announce to the public.

The summer theatre camp returns for the seventh season. The Camp kicks off with the Action Stage Right Theatre Workshop scheduled from June 2 to 6 and then three weekly camps in June, July and August.

Sisbarro-Blassneck is the instructor and each camp will perform a play at the conclusion of a week of intensive rehearsals. The first play will be “Clue” with the production scheduled for June 21. The second will be “Hercules” with the production scheduled for July 19 and the third is “The Producers” with the production scheduled for August 16.

The workshop will be held at the Marco Island Players facility. The camp is open to those children ages 7 to 16 and the cost will be $80 for the workshop for members and $90 for all others. The productions will cost $135 for members and $150 for all others.

A new camp for the summer is the Computer Swim Camp (no, you don’t go on the web while in the pool) but spend the morning sharpening your reading and math skills and then in the afternoon learn various swimming techniques.

Wesley Blassneck is the instructor and two sessions will be scheduled. The first camp is scheduled from June 16 to 20 and the second from June 23 to 27. The camp time will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to males and females entering grades 3 through 8. The fee for members is $95 and for others is $110.

Other camps in June include Scott Stewart’s basketball camp which is for guys and gals entering grade 3 through high school. The location has been changed to the Marco Island Charter Middle School.

Cheerleading Camp will be held on Saturday morning for boys and girls entering Kindergarten through grade 8. This program will run from June 21 through August 2.

Also the ever popular All Skills Volleyball Camp will be back for two sessions, June 23 to 27 and August 4 to 8.

Tonight is the April Youth Social scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. Cost is still only $10.

The Shark of the park is coming up on the 20. Come on out and support the skaters. All the action starts at 10 a.m.

American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” will be held April 25 and 26. The event kicks off at 6 p.m.
