Connor Bowden went boneless in topping the Marco Island YMCA Skate Board competition on Sunday.
Bowden won his third straight Shark of the Park title before some 300 cheering competitors, parents and fans. Even top skateboard pro Shawn Frick stopped by to catch Bowden’s and other competitor’s routines.
Boneless is a skateboard move which gained Bowden key points. Done well, Bowden was able to get a lot of air under his board as he crossed over two ramps.
Hagen Smith, an Inline skate competitor, won the first of four monthly competitions before Bowden took over.
Competitors ranged from kindergarten to eighth grade, in various skill levels.
In K-5 Mini, Cameron Campbell came out on top, followed by Ryan and Dylan Donnery. In K-5 Mini Plus, Cassidy Carlson edged Jason Lang and Travis Wilmath.
K-5 C-Beginner class saw Hunter Krohn top Zach Burgess and Kyle Donnery. The K-5 B-Intermediate champ was Castor Vosbaurgh, followed by Bella Bacon and Robert Rossetti. The K-5 Advanced winner was Barron Bacon, edging out Jake Warren and Jaylen Hayes.
In 6-8 Beginner, the top three were Ryan Garousi, Kevin Benito and Colton Hall. In 6-8 Intermediate Joey Boullianne was first, followed by Hayden McDonald and Paul Grisko. The 6-8 Advanced champ was Bowden, followed by Tyler Glisson and Hunter Smith.
Inline skating champ was Larysa Chystyk. Trevor Heuy topped the Inline Amateur Class, followed by Hagen Smith and Johnny Shahla.
Shark of the Park IV sponsors included Bug Free Pest Control, Sasha’s Salon & Day Spa, Ron Jon’s Surf Shop, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Subway of Collier Boulevard, Marriott Vacation Club, Jukebox Productions DJ Service, Wienerdog Kids Toys and the Wilmath family.
