Christmas comes early for Island Style
Christmas came early for Christmas Island Style, but this time it was the benefactor helping the organization with a successful golf fundraiser.
Some 80 golfers and another 20 volunteers participated in an outing that benefited Christmas Island Style.
Steve Stefanides, Island Style chairman, was very pleased with the outcome.
“This event was about a lot of people coming together to help make the holiday events happen,” he said.
Outing chairman Dick Shanahan was ably assisted by Debra Sanders, Barbara Dasti, and Betty McGilvary.
Tom Wagor conducted an auction for special gifts, while another 25 gifts were distributed through a raffle.
Majors sponsors included Collier Seawall & Dock, the Marco Eagle, Gem Remotes, Erin’s Isle Restaurant and Marco Island Sun Times. There were also 36 hole sponsors.
Team Fire Water was the winning men’s team in the scramble with a score of 61. The team included Chris Smith, Bill Bryant, Mark Rudnicki and Brent Stuckey.
The women’s team, with a score of 76, included Betty Kuzmeski, Aggie Malloy, Carol Renaud and Nel Morsch.
Closet to the pin winners were Paul Kablitz and Nina Writsel. Longest drives were recorded by Joey Oliverio and Jacquie Koon.
