Trendy Tarpon Club hosts olive oil tasting at Sale e Pepe

Listen up, foodies and lovers of artisan-produced organic food, the exclusive and very trendy Tarpon Club, which usually offers “members only” events, will be opening its doors to the public for a very unique happening! The “Taste of Tarpon” organic olive oil tasting will be held Feb. 20, at 11 a.m., at The Marco Beach Ocean Resort, 380 South Collier Boulevard.

Field Reichardt, president of The Organic Olive Oil Company (based in Michigan) will be coming to Marco Island for the occasion and will be at the Marco Beach Ocean Resort’s fabulous Sale e Pepe Restaurant alongside Chef Alberto Varetto for the exclusive olive oil tasting and presentation, followed by a light lunch served on the Terrace.

Tickets are $40 plus tax and gratuity per person. Reservations are taken at 393-1425 by Feb. 15.

“Our company has a goal,” said Reichardt. “To be the finest supplier of organic oils in the USA! Just as there are great, small suppliers of estate wines in this country, we intend to be the greatest supplier of estate olive oils.”

The company’s products, he stated, are only available in small quantities because they are all produced by artisan farmers, and not by conglomerates.

“We buy our foods directly from the people who make them, and are selective about which retail establishments sell them,” he added.

The Organic Olive Oil Company offers a variety of rare, organic olive oils from select growers around the world.

This year, the Company is offering organic olive oils produced by Salvatore and Tito Mirisola, of Sicily; Armando Mansur, in the foothills of the Andes in Argentina; the Villa Stabbia, in Tuscany, along with Joana & João Oliveira, in the Douro River region in Northern Portugal; Catalan Brothers of Alfaro, in the famous Rioja wine producing region of Northern Spain, as well as the Moutere Grove, near Nelson on New Zealand’s magnificent South Island and from the exquisite Lakelands Olives estate in New South Wales, New Zealand.

According to The Organic Olive Oil Company, just as with wine, there are three steps to tasting: Look; smell and taste. Tasting olive oil can be a pleasurable experience for food lovers, one where they can learn how to gain a basic ability to taste, define and enjoy the exquisite, pure taste of the company’s product.
