Juried art show begins Jan. 21

Connie’s Art Workshop and Gallery will present “Life is One Big Canvas,” a Juried Art Show from Jan. 21 through Feb. 5. Three prizes will be awarded at the reception when the winners will be announced for first, second and third place winners. Artwork will also be available for sale.

Artists interested in being part of the show should bring their artwork to the art gallery Jan. 21 and 22 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. For artwork that is not accepted, pick up dates are Jan. 24 and 25.

A reception which is open to the public will be held at 5 p.m., Jan. 26, at Connie’s Art Workshop and Gallery at 953 N. Collier Blvd at which time the winners will be announced. Wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

End of the show pickup will take place Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 4 and 5.

Rule and procedures are as follows:

– Original paintings, drawing, photography, mixed media, sculpture, fiber and printmaking are eligible.

– No artwork from molds, reproductions or giclees will be accepts. A non-refundable entry fee of $30 is required.

– All two-dimensional artwork must be framed or gallery wrapped (no staples on sides) with proper hanging wire.

– Artists may submit one piece. The actual artwork must be brought to the gallery on the days and times specified. The artists will be notified Jan. 23 if their artwork has been accepted or rejected by the jury. The artwork must be picked up at the gallery on the days specified above. There are no adequate storage facilities at the gallery. Therefore, artwork must be picked upon time or a $25 fee will be charged for everyday that unaccepted paintings are left.

– All sales of artwork through Art Workshop and Gallery Juried Show will be divided as 70 percent to the artist and 30 percent to Connie’s Art Workshop and Gallery.

– All artwork must be available for sale.

– Size Limitations: Outside dimension of 36” X 36”, gallery-wrapped or framed. Larger work accepted at the discretion of the jurors. Three-dimensional works: 36”h X 20”w X 20”d with a maximum weight of 35 pounds.

– Connie’s framing will offer a discount to those artists who wish to have their work framed or hangers attached.

– First place price: $500 worth of art supplies. Second place prize: $250 worth of art supplies. Third place price: Deluxe artists easel.

Connie’s Art Workshop and Gallery are co-owned by Connie Rawlins and Dave Zabkar. The gallery has been in business for two years. “We not only have an art gallery, but we try to promote local artists, carry art supplies, have a frame shop and I teach art lessons,” Rawlins stated.
