Teams from Marco, Naples, West Boca, Fort Myers and Northport will battle in the Palm Island Shootout Basketball Tournament on Saturday.

The tourney is being hosted by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, under the direction of Paul Johnson.

“We are real excited about having the opportunity to host the tournament,” Johnson said. “These are AAU-quality teams which should mean some great basketball.”

The teams include two Marco Basketball Academy teams and a Marco recreation team. Games will be played at Mackle Park and the Marco Island Charter Middle School.

There will be 12-and-under contests and 13-and-under games. Each tourney guarantees each team will play two games before the championship contests.

The West Boca Warriors play the Naples Warriors at 8 a.m. at Charter School. The Marco Basketball Academy plays Fort Myers at 8 a.m. at Mackle Park. The winners play at the Charter School at 11 a.m., while the losers play at 11 a.m. at Mackle Park. The championship game is at 4:30 p.m. at the Charter School.

The 13-and-under matchups will be played at the Charter School. Marco Basketball Academy will play North Port at 9:30 a.m. The Marco Recreation team plays North Port at 12:30 p.m. and Marco Basketball Academy plays Marco Recreation at 2:30 p.m. The teams with the most wins play for the championship at 6 p.m.

Games at the Charter School are $3 each, while Palm Island Shootout T-shirts will be on sale at both locations. Refreshments also will be available at both sites.
