New Marco councilors were sworn in and outgoing city councilors were recognized with plaques and certificates of proclamation Monday, March 17, 2008.

No time was wasted in getting Marco City Council’s newest members sworn in and ready to do business Monday.
After the swearing in they took their seats and got to work, handing out plaques to the outgoing councilors, electing a new chair and vice chair and mulling over candidates for the city’s next city manager.
Bill Trotter, who ran for re-election this year, was elected chair of the council by a unanimous vote. Trotter, who was vice chair in 2007 and acting council chair until Monday, was the only person nominated for the post.
Council then voted Frank Recker into the vice chair slot by another unanimous vote, with no nominees opposing.
