Marco police briefs: March 31
Resisting officer without violence
William Thomas Scanlon, 18, of 9715 S. Springfield, Evergreen Park, Ill., and a 17-year-old from Illinois, were both arrested March 22 at 12:15 a.m.
According to police reports, officers responded to a call at 540 S. Collier Blvd., regarding a fight that occurred on the beach. Officers took a statement from the victim, Thomas Fohlbrook, who reported that his arm was injured during a fight.
After taking several other statements from witnesses, the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment while officers located two individuals believed to be involved in the incident, the report states.
Both subjects tried to flee from police as the officers approached, the report says, but they were apprehended shortly after and questioned by the officers. According to the report, both were placed under arrest under charges of resisting officers without violence.
Scanlon was taken to the Naples Jail Center while the 17-year-old was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center, the report states.
Theft
A laptop computer and several other items in a computer case were reported stolen from the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, located at 400 S. Collier Blvd., a police report states. The incident was reported to have occurred at 12:30 p.m., March 21.
Estimated value of the stolen property is $3,802.
Domestic battery
Donald Scott Anderson, 37, of 1865 Woodbine Court, was arrested March 22 at 11 p.m., under suspicion of domestic battery, a police report states.
Officers responding to a reported domestic disturbance at 1865 Woodbine took a statement from Vonda Hosack, who reported that her husband battered her during an argument, according to the report. Officers reportedly confirmed witness statements, placed Anderson under arrest and took him to the Naples Jail Center.
David W. Jacobs, 48, of N. 48 W. 35343 Schaefer Road, Oconomowoc, Wis., was arrested March 25 at 10:45 a.m., for alleged domestic battery.
Officers responded to a call at 260 Seaview Court, Unit 908, where victim Kimberly Jacobs reported that she was battered by her husband during a verbal argument, according to the police report. Officers reportedly confirmed statements before placing David Jacobs under arrest and taking him to the Naples Jail Center.
Theft/possession/resisting officer with violence
Laura Lynn Code, 44, of 350 Columbus Way, was arrested at 684 Bald Eagle Drive, March 24 at 6:47 p.m., according to a police report.
Officers responded to a call at Beall’s Outlet Store regarding a subject who was shoplifting, according to a police report. An officer made contact with the individual accused of shoplifting, who was then attempting to leave the parking lot in her vehicle.
According to the police report, the subject exited her vehicle, placed an object in her mouth and attempted to flee the area on foot. The report states that a brief struggle with officers ensued before the subject was secured with handcuffs.
Statements from Beall’s employees concurred that the subject placed several store items in her purse valued at $75. The items were recovered and the object she placed in her mouth was allegedly identified as marijuana, according to the police report.
Code was arrested and taken to the Naples Jail Center.
Criminal mischief
A fountain and lighting in the courtyard of the Marco Walk Shopping Center, 599 S. Collier Blvd., were reported damaged March 21 between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m., according to a police report.
Damage is estimated at roughly $2,000, the report states.
DUI
James Burns, 23, of 279 Grosbeak St., Naples, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence March 26 at 2:09 a.m., a police report states.
Officers responded to a call regarding a reckless driver in the area of Landmark Street and San Marco Road, where they made contact with a driver who appeared to be intoxicated. The driver refused to perform a field sobriety test, the report states. Burns was then placed under arrest and taken to the Naples Jail Center.
