County residents still a bit trashy, but improving

The average Collier County resident creates over 10 pounds of trash daily compared to the average U.S. resident who creates about 10 pounds of trash weekly. Collier County Solid Waste Department officials estimate at least 50 percent of the items discarded in the trash could have been recycled.
