Registered voter Mari-Lynn McGregor receives a demonstration from volunteer diplomat Jack Patterson about the new voting machines constituents will see when they hit the polls in the next several weeks. The new voting procedure includes filling in circles and scanning the ballot in order to have an electronic count as well as a paper trail in place of the previous electronic touch screen method. The Supervisor of Elections Collier County will be holding several demonstrations on the island in the coming weeks, including Orion Bank 3:00-5:30 p.m. Friday, St. Marks Episcopal Parish Hall 10:30 a.m. Sunday and Marco Island Library 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. Turtles and wildlife enjoy a few more feet of water in their habitat located near the corner of Balmoral and Granada. The man-made pond's water level was impacted by the dewatering for the STRP project, but the water level returned to normal as dewatering was completed last week on Balmoral. However, the water level will likely go down again as dewatering begins this week on Granada. City officials expect the pond will return to average levels once all the dewatering in this section of the Sheffield sewer district is complete.

Collier County SWAT run through the humidity and heat Tuesday morning near Tigertail Beach as they begin a 10-hour training day on Marco Island Tuesday. Afternoon training included home entry, practice and drills at a home that will soon be demolished on Humming Bird Court.

It was shirt-swapping time at the end of the Junior Trojan Football camp on Friday. Lely coach Steve Pricer was given a Marco Eagles football shirt while he gave out Junior Trojan Football camp shirts. Pricer and his staff conducted a two-week football camp on Marco.
